Keyboard Lessons

Build Strong Typing Habits, One Key at a Time

Learn where your fingers belong, how to sit comfortably, and how to move from simple letter pairs to the full keyboard. Each lesson builds on the last.

Lesson Path

Three Stages of Key Mastery

Start with the home row, expand to the top and bottom rows, then add capitals and symbols. Practise each stage until it feels natural before moving on.

Lesson 1

Home Row Foundations

Rest your left fingers on A, S, D, F and your right fingers on J, K, L, semicolon. Your thumbs rest on the space bar. Type short letter pairs until each reach feels automatic.

Lesson 2

Top and Bottom Row Reach

Extend each finger up to the top row and down to the bottom row, then return it to its home position. Keep the rest of your hand still so reach comes from the fingers, not the wrist.

Lesson 3

Capitalization and Symbols

Use the Shift key with the opposite hand from the letter you are capitalising. Practise number and punctuation rows slowly, keeping accuracy ahead of speed.

Good Habits

Three Habits That Support Comfortable Typing

Sit With Good Posture

Keep your back supported, feet flat, and wrists relaxed above the keys. Adjust your chair so your forearms sit level with the keyboard.

Build Rhythm Over Rush

Type at a steady, even pace. A consistent rhythm with fewer errors will carry your speed further than short bursts of haste.

Keep Your Eyes on the Screen

Resist looking down at the keys. Trust your finger placement and glance up at the text you are copying to stay accurate.
